Short Description: Unmarked, Painted Hand Made Barrel Style Bass Drum
Long Description: Unmarked rope tension barrel style bass drum with painted eagle on nailed shell of chestnut or hickory with rough oak counter hoops made from different lengths of wood. Vent hole decoration of turned horn. Nominal Size: 26 x 21. Probably a hand made instrument by a carpenter or other artisan mid 19th century. Extra holes in counter hoops drilled after repair with iron plate and copper rivets over break through one of the holes. Original canvas over rope carry strap with handmade iron snap hooks. Original stuffed white kid covered beater. Donated by the Watertown Historical Society
